Embrace the Music

We embrace you, our beasts, for who we are. Our company was created around the ideas of acceptance and embracing. This week, we are recognizing and celebrating Music in Our School month. Did you know the values we have tie strongly with the ideals of music?

Who are you? How do you express yourself? For some it is their outward appearance, their words, their lifestyle. For many, the only way they can express themselves without reservations is through music. Music is an outpouring from the heart. Many teens find themselves at an age where they do not know what to say, yet they so desperately need to be heard. They are feeling confused, angry, changing, depressed. With the rate of teenage depression and suicide on the rise, I think it is due time for us to acknowledge the crisis and embrace the music. Our teens need music like never before. Unfortunately, many schools are having to do away with their music programs due to lack of funding.
We cannot let this happen.

Why? Let me explain. Music enriches the lives of children and can help develop language, reasoning, emotional, and coordination skills by increasing brain activity. Music helps children master the art of memorization and pattern recognition. Music promotes craftsmanship and improves the work of students. Believe it or not, it is proven that students involved in music programs had SAT scores an average of 63 points higher in verbal areas and 44 points higher results in math areas. Music can also teach self discipline skills. Lastly, music can help develop a better self-image and self-confidence in our youth.

A study out of India showed that strong coffee and soft music helped students learn and retain more information during studying. The study also found that being involved in music programs actually helped students' brains prepare to retain memories by increasing brain activity, very similar to a warm up routine before exercising. You can read more on this study here.

We embrace you. Let's all embrace the music.
